I'm a System Admin, Why Can't I Add or Delete Another User Employee - Administrator?

In this article, we will review why an Employee - Administrator would want to add additional System Admins; answer the frequently asked question; "I'm a System Admin. Why can't I add or delete another System Administrator?" and review how to Add and or "Delete" another System Admin.

Why an Employee - Administrator Would Want to Add Additional System Admins

Delegation: Not Enough Time in the Day!

As the Owner and System Administrator of your .silvertracker.net portal, you may want, or find it necessary, to delegate System Admin specific access to additional Employee Users, especially during 2nd and 3rd shifts of operations.

Assistance in Setting up Multiple Properties and Users

The ease of use of the Silvertrac App for Officers in the field is possible because of the proper setup in the Issue Monitor. Much of the setup process is redundant, and your time could be better utilized by having another employee do it.

Silvertrac
recognizes this need but has put data safety and security protocols in place to ensure System Administrator access is not overused to put your company at risk or liability.

Consider First:

Before adding System Admins, it is best to determine if an additional System Administrator is needed or if the desired .silvertracker.net access can be granted under a different User Role

For example: If an employee is set up with an Employee -  Supervisor User Role, they already have the majority of access that a System Admin does. Granting a User other access could cause undue conflict or problems.

To compare the User Roles:  Employee - Supervisor and Employee - Administrator, you can review the Resource Center articles by clicking on the links below:

Why Can't I Add or Delete Another System Admin?

Because of, but not limited to:

So you don't get Locked out of your own .silvertracker.net portal

If System Admin access were not limited to ownership and very trusted upper Management by Ownership or the current System Admin, an Employee-User granted System Admin access without Silvertrac's data safety, and security protocols in place would be able to remove access from the actual Owner or upper Management that grated them System Admin access to the .silvertracker.net portal in the first place.

Because of Silvertrac's data safety and security protocols in place, an Employee - User cannot remove access from the actual Owner or upper Management.

So you are not Overcharged

A System Admin has access to and the ability to change several key setup elements on a .silvertracker.net portal, including the number of registered Devices for which Billing is based.

Therefore, because of Silvertrac's data safety and security protocols that are in place, a System Admin must have appropriate authorization to change the Billing Invoice and or the monthly reoccurring amount Billed.

Prevents Unwanted Property Changes

A System Admin can unlock a Property so that Employee - Supervisors and Employee - Dispatchers can see or edit a specific Property setup.

Therefore, because of Silvertrac's data safety and security protocols that are in place, a System User must have appropriate authorization to unlock a previously set up Property to allow Employee-Supervisor and Employee - Dispatchers to edit a specific Property setup.

How to Add Another System Admin

If, upon review, it is determined that an additional company System Admin is required, please follow these two quick steps:

Step 1: Add a new User, or Edit a current User, with an Employee User Role of Supervisor or Dispatcher in your .silvertracker.net portal.

Step 2: Email your Customer Success Manager or Tech Support at  support@silvertracsoftware.com a request with the Name, User Name, and email of the Employee - Supervisor or Employee - Dispatcher to make that User a System Admin.

Once reviewed and confirmed, the request will be acknowledged and a notification of completion will be emailed back.

How to "Delete"* Another System Admin
