In this article we will go over the different types of Checkpoints that can be scanned using an Android device, What the Checkpoint Instructions are and how to Add a Photo to a Checkpoint.
Barcodes, QR Codes and NFC Tags
When using an Android device, a physical checkpoint can have either a Barcode, QR Code or NFC Tag that must be physically scanned at that location and each Checkpoint scan is GPS and Date and Time Stamped.
NOTE: The Android Beam must be turned on to "scan" Checkpoints using NFC Tags.
For more information on each individual type of Checkpoint please see the article:
To scan a Checkpoint click on the Scan Checkpoint icon which will launch the device camera:
For Barcodes or QR Codes place them in the device camera's frame and move in or out to focus and scan.
For NFC Tags place the Android device over the physical NFC Tag to scan until acknowledged by the device.
Checkpoint Instructions
This is a highly recommended, yet optional, feature that allows the System Admin or Supervisor to add individual Checkpoint Instructions that pop up on the device once a Checkpoint is scanned.
If your System Admin or Supervisor to added individual Checkpoint Instructions these will pop up in a box.
You must acknowledge receipt of the instructions by clicking OK.
If your System Admin or Supervisor did not add Checkpoint Instructions the pop up will simply be an OK box.
Adding a Photo
This is a highly recommended, yet optional, feature that allows the System Admin or Supervisor to require that a separately date and time stamped photo be taken at the time and location of the Checkpoint scan.
If the System Admin or Supervisor has selected "Require Photo", your device camera will automatically launch after acknowledging the Officer Instructions and you must take a landscape photo that will be date and time stamped and attached to the Checkpoint scan.
You will also have the option of turning the "Flash Mode - On" for nighttime scanning if needed.
Once the photo has been taken you will be given the option to Keep Photo or Delete Photo to retake:
If the System Admin or Supervisor has not selected "Require Photo" you will not need to add a photo.
What to do if there is an Incident at a Checkpoint
Unless otherwise instructed Checkpoints are set to "Auto Close" so there is no need to add Audio recordings and Notes to a Checkpoint.
If there is an incident that should be reported at a Checkpoint, complete the Checkpoint and then report the incident as a separate Security, Maintenance or Parking Issue with appropriate Audio Recordings, Photos and Notes.
