Silvertrac is used on thousands of device types, and new models are released constantly. Because devices eventually reach end-of-life and stop receiving operating system updates, Silvertrac support is based on OS compatibility, not specific device models.
Core Device Requirements
Devices used for Silvertrac must have:
A rear and front-facing camera
GPS capability
Internet connectivity (cellular or Wi-Fi)
The ability to update to supported operating systems
If the device cannot upgrade to the required OS version, it is considered end-of-life for Silvertrac support.
Supported OS Versions
Android
Minimum OS: Android 5.0 (Lollipop), API Level 21
Recommended / fully supported OS: Android 13 (API Level 33) and above
Devices below Android 5.0 / API 21 are not supported and may not run the app.
Devices running Android 5.0–12 (API 21–32) may function but fall under “limited support,” meaning some fixes or new features may not be available.
Note: The Silvertrac mobile app is built using Android API Level 35, which reflects the development build environment, not the minimum required OS version.
iOS
Minimum OS: iOS 15
Devices below iOS 15 are not supported and may experience degraded performance or an inability to log in.
The app is built and optimized for iOS 15 and above.
App Version Requirements
Always install the latest version of the Silvertrac mobile app from Google Play or the App Store. Older app versions may experience reduced functionality or incompatibility with server-side updates.
Searching the App Store on an iPad
If you search for “Silvertrac” on an iPad and see “No Results”, the App Store is likely filtering for iPad-only apps. Silvertrac is listed as an iPhone app, so you’ll need to adjust the filter.
How to fix it:
Open the App Store on the iPad.
In the top-left corner, tap Filters.
Under Supports, change the setting from “iPad Only” to “iPhone Only.”
Search again — the Silvertrac app will now appear for download.
Why OS Requirements Matter
As devices age, they stop receiving OS updates, may develop security risks, and may no longer support new app features. Using devices that can run the required OS versions ensures stable performance and continued support.
What You Should Do
Check the OS versions on all devices used by your team.
Replace any device that cannot update to the minimum OS requirements.
Keep the Silvertrac app updated to the latest version available.
